Black Friday 2020 – Shopping Online for Great Deals
Are you ready for Black Friday? Black Friday has routinely been the busiest shopping day of the year in the United States. With COVID-19 raging outside it’s best to shop from home. With that in mind, we have put together a few ideas for you.
When shopping online it’s important to only buy from trusted merchants. If your unsure about a merchant you can always Google the business using the following keywords in your search:
- Review, the business name
- Complaints, the business name
- Fraud, the business name
Avoid shopping while on a public Wi-Fi service. The guy staring at his phone at the next table could be a hacker spying on you. Online shopping will require your personal and banking information that an ID thief would love to grab.
Use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) when you are on a public Wi-Fi. A VPN is the only way to shop online safely from public Wi-Fi in airports, cafes, and other public spaces.
Use only secure websites that start with HTTPS. Look for a lock icon in the browser bar of a site to verify that they use SSL (secure sockets layer) encryption.

Only a credit card because most credit card companies offer $0 liability for fraud protection. Also keep all of your receipts and track your packages. If anything goes wrong you will need the receipts.
