Weather Report for Nov 12th, 2020
After a very chilly start to the week, temperatures will continue to warm the remainder of the week. Looking at the big picture, general troughing will remain in place across the western US promoting dry westerly flow. A weak shortwave will rotate through the Desert Southwest later today into tomorrow though will go largely unnoticed other than some passing high clouds.
Overall the pattern this weekend will be conducive to quiet weather conditions and a return to near-normal temperatures. Moving ahead, it looks as though high pressure will redevelop over the region early next week lending to another bout of well above normal temperatures.
For today plan on partly sunny skies mixed with periods of passing high clouds. Afternoon temperatures will climb into the 72˚F-74˚F range around the Valley. Variable winds will hover in the 3-8mph range with no noteworthy gusts to contend with. Overnight lows will dip into the low 50s around the urban corridor under clearing skies and light winds.
For tomorrow plan some lingering morning high clouds before mainly sunny skies the rest of the day. Daytime highs will warm into the 74˚F-76˚F range around the Valley. Variable winds will continue to hover in the light category with no gusts of any consequence.
Quiet weather conditions will continue over the upcoming weekend with mainly clear skies. Highs will hover in the mid 70s on Saturday before jumping into the low 80s on Sunday. As mentioned above, even warmer temperatures are in the forecast for early next week with upper 80s to possible low 90s in play.

A mild weather forecast is in store for Phoenix over the next several days. In general, mostly sunny skies and light winds are expected each day. However, cloud cover will increase on Thursday and Friday as a weak atmospheric wave passes overhead.
The most notable change in the weather will be on Sunday though, as high temperatures are forecast to escape the wonderful 70s and jump up into the 80s again. We can thank another high pressure for this warm-up. Monday will be even warmer–with highs approaching 90°F.
Air quality is also expected to be pretty mild during this time. The main focus will be particulate matter (PM), as either PM10 (dust) or PM2.5 (smoke) is forecast in the low Moderate Air Quality Index (AQI). This is because of light morning and evening winds being favorable for the local build-up of these pollutants.
But really, Moderate levels of PM10 and/or PM2.5 will be mostly confined to industrial areas south/southwest of the Phoenix metro area. Elsewhere around the Valley, PM10 and PM2.5 should remain in the Good AQI category.
Ozone is forecast to easily stay in the Good AQI category.
