Cold Snap Continues Across the Valley
The cold snap remains on track for today through the work week with below-average temperatures the main weather story. Looking at the big picture, general troughing will remain in place across the western US through the extended period which will favor below-average temperatures (normal highs in the upper 70s). Unfortunately, guidance isn’t showing any meaningful disturbances moving through the Desert Southwest either, meaning conditions look to remain dry. Overall, plan on lots of sun this week with rebounding daily highs back into the 70s by Wednesday.
For today plan on clear and sunny skies across the region. Afternoon temperatures will slowly climb into the 64˚F-67˚F range around the Valley. Variable winds will hover in the 3-8mph range with no noteworthy gusts to contend with. Overnight lows will again be quite chilly dipping into the mid to lower 40s around the urban corridor with some outlying communities reaching the 30s. Definitely plan on keeping pets and sensitive plants indoors overnight.
For Veterans day plan on mainly sunny skies with daytime highs rebounding into the 68˚F-71˚F range around the Valley. Variable winds will continue to hover in the light category with localized afternoon/evening gusts around 10mph. Moving ahead, the steady warming trend will continue with daily highs expected to reach the low to mid 70s across the lower deserts on Thursday and Friday. Other than periods of passing high clouds, plan on quiet weather conditions during the period.
