She writes in a smooth and logical style, and she understands concepts quickly and thoroughly. She definitely is an example of Maryvale’s best.

Becky Mejia Moreno

Becky is a Junior and was chosen by Ms. Batman. Becky is one of the most respectful students that Ms. Batman has had the honor to teach. She is very polite in all of her correspondences with me and her classmates. She is helpful and willing to participate and answer questions. Becky is a role model as to how a student should conduct themselves and engage in the classroom.

Eduardo Moreno

Eduardo is a Junior and was chosen by Ms. Shanahan. She nominated Eduardo for SOM because of his work ethic, success mindset, and academic excellence. Eduardo not only had perfect attendance this quarter, but he has participated in every class; volunteering to answer questions, read information aloud, and provide clarification to classmates. He turns in quarter, but he has detailed, accurate and shows master of the objectives. Eduardo is outgoing and feels comfortable leading discussions in the whole group and in breakout sessions. When there is a lull in class participation, Ms. Shanahan knows she can call on Eduardo and he will reignite the conversation. Beyond his own classwork, Eduardo also has been her teaching assistant on TEAMS. When Ms. Shanahan post assignments that are in PDF format, Eduardo will convert them and then reposts and shares the editable format with his classmates. It has saved us all valuable time and has been very appreciated. The other teachers in the Gifted and Talented Academy agreed whole heartedly and fully endorsed Eduardo be named as the Student of the Month.

Juan Carlos Perea

Juan is a Senior and was nominated by Ms. Becker. She said that Juan has been a pleasure to have in Precalculus Honors this term. She enjoyed his enthusiasm in class and his willingness to share and ask questions. His academic excellence in our class has really impressed Ms. Becker as this is the first honors math class he has taken, yet he is excelling. He has never missed an assignment and continues to get high marks on all of our unit exames which definitely shows his success mindset. Ms. Becker truly appreciated all of the discussion Juan has brought to the class in this unique environment.

She is extremely respectful (extremely sweet) and respectful towards her peers, and more importantly, respectful towards herself as she persevered in finishing her class with Ms. Calvin on time. Academically she scored very well on her assessments, scored very well on her copious note-taking, and maintained consistent contact with her teacher in this online environment. I thoroughly enjoyed watching her grow as a student and as an individual. Great things are in store for this student when she graduates from high school.

Daymond Small

Daymond Small is a Senior and was chosen by Mr Hamilton. Daymond is clearly set himself above the others with his work, detailed answers, and test scores. He is one of the few who actually speaks and he helps others out in the chat and in the breakout groups. He takes it upon himself to make up work and, when he did miss a day, he had the work for that missed class done before class the next day. Mr. Hamilton is impressed with Daymond’s academic work and his attitude and the way he fit into the class seamlessly. He has certainly shown that he has a success mindset and we hope he continues his education after Maryvale.

Congratulations to all of September’s Students of the Month.
